Don started and continues to manage his private practice real estate services firm which offers property management, leasing and consulting services for private clients and high net-worth entrepreneurs with a focus on retail, office and industrial buildings.

Don has been in employed in the real estate industry for over 30 years, beginning his career with Studley, Inc. shortly after graduating from The George Washington University (GWU).

After achieving success in a variety of service-related fields such as mortgage banking, finance and leasing, Don spent 4 years with Ratcliffe, Cali, Duffy, Hughes & Company (RCDH) where he was engaged in the valuation of a variety of commercial properties for financial institutions, pension funds, developers and investors for the specific purpose of asset allocation, due diligence analysis and partnership apportionment. The total value of assets appraised approximated $800 million in 50+ properties throughout the Baltimore-Richmond crescent.

In 1995, Don joined First Washington Realty, Inc. as a Property Manager overseeing a portfolio of third party managed properties. As the years passed, he assumed additional responsibilities, and in 2003 Don was appointed Senior Vice President in charge of the property management division for the firm’s private client group. In this capacity, Don was responsible for a portfolio of twenty-one (21) neighborhood shopping centers with a market value of $500 million located in six Mid-Atlantic States totaling more than 2,500,000 square feet of gross leasable area for thirteen (13) different clients. During this period he also directed 75 tenant construction management and building redevelopment projects involving extensive coordination with general contractors, architects and engineers and was directly responsible for 80 new leases, renewals and expansions totaling over $12 million.

After leaving First Washington Realty, Don started Brenits Realty Management, LLC in 2008 and has enjoyed steady growth and profitability in every year.

He has been awarded property management contracts for commercial properties on behalf of investors, entrepreneurs and individual building owners with responsibility for all aspects of property operations including budgeting, financial analysis, tenant lease compliance, vendor oversight, tenant move-in possession and oversight of leasing program. Don has successfully negotiated multiple lease transactions for his clients, with an aggregate Minimum Rent value in excess of $8,800,000.

He has been hired as a consultant to review, abstract and summarize building leases for an ownership consortium to ensure accurate Base Rent escalation target dates, correct lease renewal Notice deadlines and proper billable CAM expense thresholds.

Recently Don was asked to perform due diligence analysis for a multi-building asset purchase including financial analyses, pro-forma budgets, lease review, abstract & analysis, review property assessment report, and establish value-enhancement capital expense program to upgrade the property.

Don has worked with a range of investor and development companies including The Canada Life Assurance Company, Crow Family Holdings, J Donegan Company, Greenebaum and Rose Associates, Greenberg Realty Company, Kodiak Properties, RFI Associates, and Valley Forge Investment Corp.
